Bronze casting
10 lb casting
I helped build 3 of our furnaces. 1 for a 20 lb crucible and 2 for 100 lb capacity, they were built with bricks, fiber fax, and a high heat cement to insulate

Mold making
Sand molds need to be compact so that when the oxygen comes in the sand mixture freezes everything together, hence the tedious stamping
First half of the sand mold stamped with the wax models in place
The tubes are where the metal will flow in and air will flow out, second half of mold is being filled with sand
In the beginning… I wanted to experience every part of casting, from shoveling sand, covering the molds, adding the fences, pulling the chain, pushing the buttons, but mostly holding on to shank holding the crucible as it let off 2100 of heat and glowing bright orange, aiming for the small hole and watching the cascade of liquid metal flow in to each mold and to be as close and you can get.
